Three series to try out this Wednesday: Kill Shakespeare, Jennifer Blood, and Twilight Guardian

While this Wednesday certainly is a busy one, with lots of high profile releases like Green Lantern, Amazing Spider-man, and Brightest Day, I want to take some time to spotlight three other series that you might want to try out.  Who knows?  You could find a new favorite!

Kill Shakespeare 100 Penny Press Ed #1
Writers: Anthony Del Col, Conor McCreery
Artist: by Andy Belanger
Price: $1.00

Starting off the list is the $1 reprint of Kill Shakespeare #1.  While critically acclaimed, this title hasn't exactly set the sales chart on fire.  A shame too, as this series has one of the more interesting premises I've read in a while.  Essentially, Shakespeare's characters team up to kill him so as to stop all the horrible things that will happen to them in the future from happening (as foreseen by their seers).  The writing is solid and while the art isn't best out there, you could certainly do worse.  Plus, for only a dollar, this comic is practically disposable!

Garth Ennis' Jennifer Blood #1
Writer: Garth Ennis
Artist: Adriano Batista
Price: $3.99

Kick butt female Punisher written by the same guy who wrote a legendary run of Punisher MAX?  I'll take four please.  It'll be interesting to see how Ennis differentiates this series from his classic run with Frank.  Plus, after dabbling in the grotesque (Crossed) and the superhero (Boys) realm for so long, it should be a welcome return to form to see Ennis handle the down and dirty street crime genre again.

Twilight Guardian #2 (OF 4)
Story: Troy Hickman
Artist: Siddharth Kotian
Price: $3.99

Written by the same man who wrote the sublime Common Grounds, Troy Hickman has again returned with a decidedly different sort of "superhero" book.  Featuring a protagonist interested mainly in playing Rorschach with her block, Twilight Guardian is fairly unique among the hordes of cape books available out there.  Definitely give this one a try if you have the cash to spare.
